If you tried to link your Aadhaar with your UAN and were unable to do because of mismatch in Name, Date of Borth(DOB) or Gender in UAN data and Aadhaar data then you can use the new functionality provided in the UAN portal to update details. This article explains in detail EPF UAN Correction on how to Correct Name, Date of Birth and Gender in your UAN Online as per Aadhaar if your Aadhaar is not linked with UAN.

Overview of the process to correct Name, Date of Birth, Details Online
The process involves employee raising the online request by logging onto UAN website. The request will then be forwarded to Employer you can approve or reject the request online. If the employer approves then request will go to EPFO Field Office where Dealing Assistant, Section Supervisor and then APFC/RPFC will reject or approve the request.
The EPFO has not yet provided any time limit for processing EPF UAN basic details correction requests. We have raised this issue with EPFO. Also, as this is a new online facility, you may face some technical issues in submitting the online request.
If your details are linked to Aadhaar then you cannot modify your details by this process. Then you have to submit the request to EPFO through your employer. Link to application is here.
Employee raising the request
- Login to Member Interface of Unified Portal using your UAN and Password.
- Click on Manage>Modify Basic Details.
- Provide the correct details as per Aadhaar (System will verify the details entered with UIDAI- Aadhaar Data)
- On clicking Update Details, the request will be submitted to the employer for further approval.
- Till the employer has not verified the details, One can also withdraw the request by clicking on Delete Request
- After successful verification, your request will be automatically submitted to your employer for further approval.
Employer approving or rejecting the request
Your employer will have to approve the request online. It will then be transmitted to the EPFO field office. The EPF staff will then process the requested corrections.
- The employer will log in to Employer Interface of Unified Portal.
- Employer can view the change requests submitted by employees by clicking on Member>Details Change Request
- The employer can approve or reject the request.
- If the employer approves the request will be transferred to EPFO field office.
EPFO approving or rejecting the request
- In the EPFO office, the Dealing Hand will submit his recommendations, Recommended for Approval or Recommended for Rejection with proper remarks, online in the Field Office Interface of Unified Portal.
- This request will then be verified by Section Supervisor.
- Finally, Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner(APFC)/Regional Provident Fund Commissioner (RPFC) can Approve/Reject the case
The earlier process to correct basic details in UAN
if an employee wants to correct his/her basic details against UAN, employee and employer are required to submit a joint request to the concerned EPFO field office for correction of above mentioned basic details of employee.
If your details are linked to Aadhaar then currently, you cannot modify your details. Then you still have to follow the above process.
The employee prepares a joint request letter or fills the form. Regional PF Commissioner to be filled by your employer. You can download the form for correction of EPF details from here.
- Fill only the information which has to be corrected.
- Once the form is filled, you can mention the documents that you are going to provide as proof of the changes you are requesting for.
- Sign the form
The employer will submit the application to the associated Regional EPFO Field office for changing it. The changes will take to update within 1 month(hopefully).

Step by step process for EPF UAN correction of Name, Date of Birth, Gender Online

Click on Manage>Modify Basic Details
Provide the correct details as per Aadhaar (System will verify the details entered with UIDAI- Aadhaar Data)
On clicking Update Details, the request will be submitted to the employer for further approval.
Till the employer has not verified the details, One can also withdraw the request by clicking on Delete Request. You can access this option by clicking Manage -> Modify Basic Details -> Pending Requests
If your Aadhaar is already linked to UAN then you would not be allowed to change the details. You would see the view as shown in the image below.
How many days will it take to approve the request for Change of Name, Date of Birth
The EPFO has not yet provided any time limit for processing EPF UAN basic details correction requests. After employee submits the request
- The request is forwarded to Employer you can approve or reject the request online.
- If the employer approves then request will go to EPFO Field Office where Dealing Assistant, Section Supervisor and then APFC/RPFC will reject or approve the request.
For many people who have used this facility, it has taken more than 15 days and still the request has not been approved. We have raised the issue with EPFO through our twitter account.

How does employer Approves the Employee’s EPF Correction
When Employer logs in to the Unified member website for Employers, he will see the requests submitted for Approval by clicking on Member->Approvals. The employer can view the Approval requests by clicking on View. Using his digital signature he can approve the Approval requests by click on DS KYC button if his Digital signature is working, as shown in the image below.

Here is the solution to add your PAN in UAN portal.
My Name:
Arun Kumar Krishnasamy
Arun Kumar(My name) Krishnasamy(Father name)
Actual problem:
Check in UAN portal, name displayed as Arun Kumar K
PAN card: Arun Kumar K
Aadhaar card: Arun Kumar K
But actual problem for PAN not linked is PAN card, why because in PAN card: Arun Kumar K is display name. This won’t be considered to link in your UAN portal.
Actual consider name is, goto to https://portal.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/UserLogin/LoginHome.html?lang=eng
And check the name how its displayed.
Its was displayed as Krishnasamy Arun Kumar.
In this case I need to change my name in all data base.
Solution:
1. First I have changed my PAN name as Arun Kumar Krishnasamy, be careful while filling the PAN name correct form.

In my case, my previous PF account at Malad/Kandivali office is not being transferred despite many attempts. The employer company has shutdown (liquidation/debt), so I can’t use them as there is no representative from that company now
I can only view balance in that PF account and have UAN, but not linked to Aadhar or PAN. Even for linking aadhar, the member portal need employer validation which I don’t have.
In order to transfer this, I have already:
Called Kandivali PF office, but nobody answers properly.
Filed RTI and followed instructions, no response.
Filled for PF account transfer via Present employer, waited 8 months, nothing happened.
Visited Kandivali PF office many times, but they don’t entertain, ask to chase present employer. Present employer say they are not being entertained by the PF staff.

The EPFO wants to know why there was wrong Date of Birth and it needs proof of your date of birth as per your class 10th certificate.
They have asked you to submit the join declaration with your explanation and Class Xth certificate.

Letter from a recognised public authority or public servant verifying the identity and residence of the members to the satisfaction of the competent authority.
If you have changed your name due to some reasons, for example many woman change their names after marriage. Then one can submit as proof copy of gazette page copy in which your name change is printed.
Step 3: Employer fills the name of the authorised signatory on behalf of the company. The authorised signatory will also have to sign the application form and affix the company seal on the form.
Step 4:Employer will submit the correct details to concerned Field office for changing it. After receiving completed information from your employer, the changes will take to update within 1 month(hopefully)

I was working in a company in Bangalore and while I was in notice period I found that my EAN name and Aadhar card name doesn’t match. I had requested for correction in UAN website. Employer has approved it whereas Field Officer Delhi hasn’t yet. Waiting from last 20 days to get this approval. I Changed my Name through online as per Aadhar Card and it’s approved by both my previous employer and the EPFO fields officer, but later I came to know that my name in Income Tax office record is not matching with the name printed on the card. Does your old UAN have Date of Exit.
If yes, you can try to merge the 2 UANs.

I have 2 UANs. One belongs to my previous employer from which I want to transfer the amount to my current epf account. That account has incorrect details where my middle name is not updated. I have raised a request through epfindia’s site to update the same..
But the problem is my previous employer has shut down the company and now the request is still pending since a couple of months. How can I update the account details without employer’s approval.

hello – i have left my employer listed in EPFO site almost a year ago , and currently don’t have a job.
i want to withdraw my EPF amount – but there are 2 problems on the UAN portal:
1. my bank account’s IFSC code is incorrect (don’t know if that will have implication as account number is correct)
2. My adhaar number is not updated
When I try to update the above two through KYC section – the information is going to my employer (ex-employer now) for approval. I have tried to contact my ex-employer’s HR to know what they need from me for their approval – but am getting no response.
Any suggestion what I can do ? can i inform EPFO office if my employer doesn’t approve or worse rejects because i’m no longer with the company — please help suggest the options

Try uploading the KYC document, in your case Aadhaar, after logging in to UAN portal.
you can look at KYC under the ‘Manage’ option on the main menu.
And then request your employer to approve it.
Your employer has to digitally approve the fresh document that you have uploaded. Till your document gets the approval of the employer, your KYC status would appear as “Pending” in your account.

In case of proof of DOB while filing application, it has now been decided that all applicants of passports can submit any one of the documents –transfer/School leaving/ Matriculation Certificate, PAN card, Aadhaar Card/E-Aadhaar having the DOB of applicant, copy of the extract of the service record of the applicant, driving licence, Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) or LIC policy bond.
has been empowered under the Registration of Birth & Deaths Act, 1969 to register the birth of a child born in India can also be given as DOB proof.

Anyone kindly suggest for my name & DOB correction in EPF portal, which has been wrongly entered by my previous employer. Now the company got shut down. So unable to get it correct.
I have requested for online correction, which is approved by my employer but rejected by field office bz my adhar is not linked & they mentioned remark as submit relevant documents. I seriously don’t know where to submit the documents online.
I recently joined new organization. But these finance guys are stating that they can not correct the data while linking my old UAN to this company.
I have few doubts to be clarified. If anyone knows kindly revert.
1. While linking my old UAN to new organization, will there be option of correcting the old data like name & DOB? If yes what is the processor?
2. If new employer can not do correction, how else can i get my details correction.
I am worried bz i had been to KR puram PF office, there nobody response & you won’t have any clue whom to meet. Evreybody will send you to next counter but will not get solution to your pbm.

You have to decide which UAN you want to keep.
The second UAN would be useless if no contribution is made.
Is your UAN by the first company has KYC in place ie Aadhaar Linked, Bank account linked, PAN Linked then you stick with it.

Hi der is a way where you can actually link UAN to aadhar ! Check in Google ! Search as link UAN to aadhar . I have tried doing that way and aadhar got linked to my UAN ! I had same issue employer accepted but pending in Chennai field office . So I have followed the Google procedure ! And next day it will get updated in portal immediately!
I am not able to edit or correct my profile details.
It is saying : Aadhaar is already verified. Your details aren’t editable.

You can submit the request directly to EPFO, you may have to visit the EPF regional office.

Check what is your name in UAN and what is your name in PAN?
you need to decide the official name. Do you want name in PAN to match that of Aadhaar.
If so you can update PAN with Aadhaar as proof.
One time again add a portal for change online basic detail but still not checking by epfo officer.
I had submitted 2 time physically hard copy for correction my basic detail and 2 times online which 1st portal was open apr’17 uan help desk and other this one. officer don’t want to work in govt. area only demand full salary.
I think this department also handle to private sector.
Please be patient.

How many days will it take to clear pending at field oficer for the name correction which is approved by employer.
For me it today more than 1 month, my employer approved my details on December 22nd and and it was Approved from EPF office on January 28th. Also prior to the approval, I have registered the grievance on January 6th but the grievance was rejected after 5 days stating that they need to verify. So on January 28th it was approved.
So finally your details are corrected.

Online go to Contact Us at EPF website then click on the zonal link.
For example for Noida click on Zonal Office of Uttar Pradesh.
It will take to another page with contact details and email id.
Last alternative is to visit the regional office personally. But remember it is a govt office.

Its been well over a month since I raised the request. I raised a grievance and it was closed with a response that the “name has been corrected as requested”. The name is still not corrected. I have raised another grievance now.
Sadly that is the way to go.
Personally, we also raised a grievance and they replied with a attachment which was missing.
Then had to raise another grievance to ask for attachment.

I had the request after 2 days when it is started.
Still pending on field office
I had submitted Name Change & UAN no change details on UAN Portal and details appeared under ‘KYC Pending for Approval’.
When I checked today there was no status of KYC Approval/Rejection , neither my Name Change , UAN changes are reflect on portal.

I am also facing the same issue which is approved by employer but pending at field office from last few days and also tried to call the concerned contact details but still not received any response from EPFO team. I think there is nothing benefit of being online services as its also seems too much time taking…

Its been three weeks and the name has still not been corrected. I had applied offline 3 months ago but then nothing happened so I applied online. It was approved by the employer the same day but pf office is not approving it. I call their office and they asked me to email them with the details but they haven’t responded to the email in over a week.

If every thing need to go PF office, then what is the use of having online, in fact hard copies submitted also taking same time for process. I think sake of public, they taken this initiative no use to public.

2 After that application process another 45 days
3 Get the amount to account again 1 month totally 4 months to process our amount.
Above points some times it will work ,If every thing is correct in your application.
If any problems we have to go to their centres moreover Saturday’s they won’t work. You have to take leave one day and not sure it will get resolved in the same day.
Really it’s a great online facility. Customer care hardly connect, in case connected, only one Answer “check with PF branch office” , For this answer do we really require Customer care? Un-necesarly wasting our money by EPFO office.
