Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas married on 1st  and 2nd December 2018 in a two-day, lavish, East-meets-West celebration, after a whirlwind four-month engagement. According to reports on the internet, Priyanka and Nick spent an estimated $584,000 on their two-day event. Their combined net worth is estimated to be $53 million.  Details from the wedding, such as the venue (the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India), her dress (custom Ralph Lauren with a 75-foot train!), her jewellery, her makeup, captivated the internet, as also speculation about their relationship, Priyanka is 36 and Nick is 26 years old. Cost of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas Wedding

It was an epic wedding weekend for 225 guests which included Jonas’s brothers Kevin (with wife Danielle), Joe (with fiancée, actress Sophie Turner) and Frankie along with Priyanka’s brother Siddharth. It was all planned by Sandeep Khosla(Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla) and Aditya Motwane,( Motwane Entertainment & Weddings), the couple held court for four days at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.

Engagement Ring: Nick Jonas popped the question in August 2018 with a $200,000 ring from Tiffany & Co.  He closed down the entire London store in July to purchase. “Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?” – that’s what Nick Jonas said when he proposed Priyanka Chopra. The diva was silent for 45-seconds. She was indeed left speechless. “I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections,” he then said.

Roka: In August 2018, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s got engaged on August 18 in a traditional roka ceremony in Mumbai. This was followed up by the party.

Bachelorette and Bachelor party: Priyanka Chopra had an amazing bachelorette in Amsterdam with her girl’s gang and at the same time, Nick also had a bachelor’s party at the yacht.

Wedding Costs:

Cost of Travel: The couple and their guests had to get from New York to Jodhpur, which costs an average of $1,000. However, a first class flight costs somewhere between $8000-$10,000.

Wedding-venue: Nick and Priyanka were married at Umaid Bhawan Palace, a royal place turned five-star hotel in Jodhpur.  The couple reportedly booked the entire palace for the weekend, which cost an estimated $461,000. The Umaid Bhavan Palace has 64 luxurious suites and rooms, which consists of 22 palace rooms and 42 suites that are again of four types – 24 historical suites, 10 royal suites, 6 grand royal suites, and 2 presidential suites. The cost of each room is reportedly Rs 47,300 for palace rooms, Rs 65,300 for historical suites, Rs 1.45 lakh for royal suites, Rs 2.30 lakh for grand royal suites and Rs 5.04 lakh for presidential suites. Exclusive of all the taxes, the couple spent around Rs. 64.40 lakhs per night. When calculated for 5 days, the total costs amount to Rs 3.2 crore. The palace, the sixth largest private home in the world, reportedly created a helipad just so guests could get around for the weekend.

Gifts for Guests: Guests got a plethora of goodies, including a package, called an “Oh S— Kit,” which according to Cosmopolitan, included both “Western Weddings for Dummies” and “Indian Weddings for Dummies,” as well as a “Taste of India” ki and customized silver coins with an “NP” monogram. It’s not clear how much these costs,

While those expenses were likely the most prominent ones in their wedding budget, there are still dozens of other cost factors to take into consideration like food, photos, videos, expenditure for dresses.

Catering: Cost of catering is estimated to be Rs 18,000 per person

Clothes: While the actual price of the clothes worn by Priyanka is yet to be revealed, the Ralph Lauren Purple Label tuxedo Nick donned for the ceremony retails for as much as $5,995 online.

Who bore the cost of their marriage?

A Yahoo! Finance report mentioned that Priyanka net worth is an estimated $28 million or Rs 200 crore. Nick Jonas is estimated to have a net worth of $25 million or Rs 171 crore. So they can afford $0.5 million($584,000) wedding.

Rumour has it that Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s wedding picture rights were sold for a staggering 2.5 million dollars (Rs 18 crore).  The couple’s wedding photos were first released by People magazine. Selling picture rights is common in US and is now catching up in India Sonam Kapoor had sold her wedding pictures to Vogue India.

Based on their Instagram feeds many said that Priyanka and Nick got their wedding festivities sponsored. Amazon helped Chopra out with her wedding registry; Lime Bike and Elit Vodka supplied the good times for Jonas’ bachelor party and the amount of Tiffany references made from “We’re engaged” to “I do”  raised questions.

Many celebrities have brands sponsor various parts of their wedding, if not the entire ceremony. Some brands will go out of their way to pay celebrities for this service: Kim Kardashian, for instance, famously made more than $2 million off her 88-day marriage to Kris Humphries, netting $98,000 alone for holding her bachelorette party at the nightclub Tao Las Vegas. Others will offer their services for free in exchange for some form of promotion.

It’s unclear whether the couple financially benefits in the long run from these wedding plugs (Nick is an investor for startup Lime) or how much they would theoretically stand to make off these relationships (though one estimate states that Instagram influencers with tens of millions of followers can stand to make between $6,700 and $17,500 per post)

Amazon confirmed that it did not pay Priyanka to sponsor her registry, agreeing to do so in exchange for donating $100,000 to UNICEF.  Tiffany spokesperson said “Priyanka is a friend of the house. We were thrilled to host her shower, but no, she was not paid for it nor her engagement,”

Priyanka’s bridal shower party was thrown by her friends, bridesmaids Mubina Rattonsey and Anjula Acharia. It included guests, such as, Priyanka’s mom Madhu Chopra, actor and talk show host Kelly Ripa, actor Lupita Nyong’o and Danielle Jonas, who’s married to Nick’s brother Kevin Jonas. Dress she wore was from Marchesa’s spring summer 2018 collection, with a glamorous white overcoat.

Priyanka had the time of her life in Amsterdam in 3-5 Nov 2018 with her girl gang which includes Parineeti Chopra, Sophie Turner, Isha Ambani, Srishti Behl Arya, Tamanna Dutt, Natasha Pal, Chanchal D’Souza and Dana Supnick.

The Couple clad in festive Indian attire designed by bridal couturier Manish Malhotra performed traditional Ganesh puja, a series of pre-wedding prayer rituals conducted for the combined wellbeing of the bride and groom. Most Indian ceremonies begin this way; before the party can start, the appropriate deities must be consulted accordingly.

PreWedding Ceremonies

The pre-wedding ceremonies, including the haldi, sangeet, and mehendi at Umaid Bhawan Palace, where they were staying. They were earlier scheduled at the Mehrangarh Fort . Though they have hired a private security agency, they also wanted protection from the local police. Jodhpur Police reportedly refused to give them protection citing the upcoming Assembly Elections in Rajasthan. The fort was to be closed for tourists for the three days – from November 29 to December 1. An additional cost of Rs 10 lakh per day was to be billed for the set-up for ceremonies to happen at the Mehrangarh Fort. So the cost for pre-weddings ceremonies would have totalled to roughly Rs 43 lakh.

Heena or Mehndi Ceremony

The extravaganza began on Friday 30 November, with the mehendi ceremony

Henna is applied from her fingertips all the way up to bride’s elbows, and on the backs of her hands, and feet. Attendees, too, can get as much henna as they like, and mingle over snacks and drinks while they wait for their turn. The green paste can take around three hours to properly dry, but it’s advised that the bride wait as long as possible so that the colour can deepen from bright orange to rust once washed off. Legend has it that the darker the color of the henna, the better the outcome of the marriage will be. Some brides also opt to hide the groom’s name somewhere between the intricate designs, and, on the night of the wedding day, the lucky guy has to find it before he is allowed to sleep.

Chopra and Jonas wore outfits by Indian design house Khosla Jani for the occasion. Priyanka wore an organdy lehanga that consisted of 48 panels with intricate silk detailing.

Nick wore a long, cotton Bakhiya kurta with elaborate embroidered design also by Khosla Jani. Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, who is engaged to Nick’s older brother Joe wore beautiful black lehenga.

Sangeet of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas

Sangeet is an evening party that celebrates the joining of the two families with ridiculous amounts of food, as well as dances and skits with family members.

The theme of the Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas sangeet ceremony was ‘boys vs girls’. Both the bride and the groom’s mothers delivered speeches.

The ceremony saw Priyanka perform with her mother, Madhu Chopra, on the song Ram Chahe Leela from the film Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela. The song Gallan Goodiyan from Priyanka’s film Dil Dhadakne Do was also a big hit. Parineeti also took to the stage for a performance.

Nick and his brothers put up an entire performance for their guests and other performers were also invited to light up the evening.

The couple wore outfits created by the design house Khosla Jani.  Priyanka wore a hand-embroidered silver and gold sari covered in sequins for the occasion, while Nick wore a dark blue sherwani made with silk-thread details. Nick’s brothers Kevin, Joe, and Frankie also donned sherwanis for the occasion.

Christian Wedding of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas

Priyanka and Nick were married in accordance with Christian traditions on Saturday 1 Dec 2018, in a ceremony officiated by Nick’s father, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr. The ceremony began at 4:30 pm and was followed by 18 ft cake cutting. Priyanka and Nick were dressed in Ralph Lauren  ensembles, as were their bridesmaids and groomsmen. Artist Yumi Mori used 10 Marc Jacobs Beauty products to achieve Chopra’s wedding day glow. According to Filmfare, Jonas enlisted his personal chefs from Dubai and Kuwait to put the cake together.

Their traditional first dance was on Roberta Flack’s The First Time I Saw Your Face, following which they left the venue in a classic red car, owned by the hotel. A fireworks display was organised, followed by a multi-cuisine dinner.

Priyanka and Nick’s gorgeous wedding rings are by Chopard. Priyanka’s band is taken from the “Haute Joaillerie Collection” featuring 3.90-carats of ashoka-cut diamonds that are set in platinum, and Nick’s band is made from ethical yellow gold. Priyanka also opted for rose-cut pear diamond Chopard earrings, while Nick wore the L.U.C Lunar Big Date watch from their collection.

The bride wore a hand-beaded and hand-embroidered Ralph Lauren gown featuring floral and scroll motifs and lace-effect tulle appliqués with scalloped sleeves and a high-neck collar and a pair of embellished Jimmy Choos.

The embroidery included mother of pearl pailettes, crystal seed beads, and Swarovski crystals, took a total of 1,826 hours to complete. Underneath the long-sleeve gown was a strapless column dress made up of 2,380,000 mother of pearl sequins. The look was topped off by a 75 feet or 23 metres long tulle veil. 6 people had to guide the veil down the aisle.

The embroidery also had eight messages woven into it, including the groom’s full name, “Nicholas Jerry Jonas,” their wedding date of “1st December 2018,” and the names of Chopra’s mom Madhu and her late father Ashok, who died of cancer in 2013. The Hindi mantra “Om Namah Shivay” (in praise of Lord Shiva), as well as the words “Family,” “Hope,” “Compassion,” and “Love” were embedded into the fabric as well. Nick also had a small piece of lace from Chopra’s wedding gown embedded into the inside lapel of his tuxedo, a custom double-breasted design from Ralph Lauren’s Purple Label. It was embroidered with the words “My Jaan,” which translates to “My Life

Ralph Lauren not only created custom outfits for the bride and groom, but for their parents, and their full wedding party of 12 bridesmaids, 12 groomsmen, four flower girls, and a ring bearer. Ralph has only designed 3 wedding dresses earlier, one for his daughter, his daughter-in-law, his niece Both Nick and Priyanka attended the Met Gala together, their first ever red carpet appearance, in custom, Ralph Lauren looks back in 2017.

Hindu wedding of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas

A second wedding ceremony, this time in accordance with Hindu traditions, was held on Sunday 2 Dec at the same venue. But before that, a traditional choora, kalire and haldi ceremony was held at around 12:30 pm. Women wore bracelets embossed with the initials ‘NP’ while the men wore broaches. They also participated in ‘Kangna Bandhana’, where a sacred thread is tied around the wrist of the bride and the groom as a good luck charm.

Nick entered the venue on a horse-drawn carriage or ‘ghodi’ and with a full baaraat. The baaraat began at the front porch of the Umaid Bhawan Palace and moved to the Baradari Lawns, where the jodi got married according to Hindu rituals. Pandit Chandrashekar, who is a native of Pali, was flown in especially from Bengaluru with a team of five other Hindu priests for the ceremony. The two-hour wedding ceremony was followed by lunch. An after-party that went on till the early hours of the next day was organised.

Parineeti Chopra, who is Priyanka’s cousin and was also one of the bridesmaids at the lavish wedding, reportedly hid Nick’s shoes as part of the traditional joota chupai ceremony and in return, demanded a whopping 5 lakh amount from her ‘jeeju’ Nick.

Priyanka wore hand-embroidered red lehenga by designer Sabyasachi adorned with hand-cut organza flowers, French silk knots, and crystals, according to Sabyaschi’s Instagram post of the bridal look. The Indian designer said that it took 110 embroiders a total of 3,720 hours to create the lehenga.

Priyanka’s jewellery was just as intricate, with uncut diamonds, emeralds, and Japanese pearls set in 22-karat gold. She wore Sabyasachi shoes with her outfit.

Nick wore a gold, hand-quilted sherwani made out of silk with an embroidered chikan dupatta and a chanderi tissue safa(turban), accessorizing with a diamond necklace from the designer’s heritage jewellery collection. He finished the look with a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes.

Reception in Delhi on Dec 4

Nick and Priyanka flew out of Jodhpur for Delhi, where they hosted a wedding reception on December 4 which was held at the Taj Palace Hotel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding reception where he gifted a rose each to the newly-weds.

The bride was ethereal in silver blush beaded lehenga by Falguni Shane Peacock and custom jewellery by Delhi-based Khanna Jewellers, while the groom looked dapper in a velvet tuxedo. She accessorized with a three-tier necklace, drop earrings, and red and silver bracelets, wearing white flowers in her hair. Her traditional, bespoke ensemble was embedded with crystals, and hand-embroidered motifs like elephants, birds, flowers and butterflies from the Jodhpur wedding.It took 12000 hours (500 days or over 16 months) and 80 craftsmen to create the custom outfit.

A work trip to Mumbai (for launch of Bumble), a flight to Udaipur for Isha Ambani’s pre-wedding party, a short beachside honeymoon at Oman, back to Mumbai for Isha Ambani’s wedding and a quick dash to New York. Priyanka and Nick were back for the second part of their wedding celebrations.

Reception in Mumbai on December 19

They held the reception for family, friends and the media at JW Marriott in Mumbai on Dec 19. Priyanka looked stunning in a blue strapless custom-made Anarkali by Sabyasachi with a huge diamond necklace adorning her neck. Nick complimented her in a light grey suit.

The couple took the opportunity to give a small speech in front of the guests who had assembled to celebrate their wedding. Priyanka began with, “I want my husband to meet all the people who have come to meet him. So thank you so much for being here. Friends of my parents, my mom who is hosting this wonderful evening and my dad who I know is here. Thank you so much for coming and giving us your blessings and I hope you have a wonderful time tonight. And this is my husband Nick Jonas.” And a loud applause followed as the guests cheered the couple.

Nick said “And all of you have welcomed me with such open arms. So thank you for that. Tonight is about celebrating and spending some time together. My first introduction to all of you. So thank you again and thanks to Madhu for putting it up together and my beautiful wife. (turning to Priyanka) I couldn’t be happier being with you.”

Reception in Mumbai on December 20

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas celebrated their togetherness with the Indian film fraternity on 20 Dec. The celebration took place at Taj Lands End in Mumbai and in attendance were many big stars from Bollywood including Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Kangana Ranaut, Anushka Sharma and others. Badminton star Saina Nehwal also came with husband Parupalli Kashyap to congratulate the couple.

Priyanka looked stunning in white embellished outfit while Nick Jonas complemented her in a green suit. Her dress was designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, who described her look on Instagram as “a custom tulle Spring Blossom skirt, hand embroidered with tiny, organza and chiffon flowers encrusted with crystals and bugle beads as accents.  A full sleeved lace blouse embellished with small sequins flowers, crystals and sequins and an embroidered stole to complete the ensemble.”

The livewire of Bollywood, Ranveer grabbed all the attention at PeeCee’s Mumbai reception as he circled around wife Deepika and Priyanka while they were dancing on Bajirao Mastani song “Pingaa”. He also pulled Parineeti Chopra to the dance floor.
