You can use online grievance only if you have UAN. On this platform, you can lodge the complaint and also track the status of the complaint. Timeline for resolution of grievance raised is 30 days. This article talks about how to use EPF Grievance Website to file EPF Complaint in detail with images, what our experience was while filing the EPF grievance?

What is EPF Grievance Website to file EPF Complaint?
If you have a question regarding your PF withdrawal, or transfer or updation of details, or complaint against EPF, your employer then you can use EPF grievance website to lodge a complaint. To lodge the complaint you must have your EPF UAN number. This has been made mandatory from 1 January 2016.
- One can lodge the complaint if one is EPF member pensioner or employer.
- One can raise the complaints against one’s employer (company) or concerned EPFO.
- There is a timeline of 30 days for resolving the issue.
- One can send the reminders for resolution of the complaint.
The issues for which one can register complaints regarding EPF are:
- Withdrawal of PF
- The form 13 for transfer of PF accumulations.
- EPS: the scheme certificate or 10C.
- Pension settlement
- Issues related to PF balance.
- Payment of insurance benefit or Form 5IF
- If a cheque is returned or misplaced.
One can view the status online for the complaints filed.
If the complaints are not resolved in the expected time then one can send some reminders for our complaint.
If you are still not getting any satisfactory reply then you may contact the EPFO office
You can also file an RTI in case of no satisfactory answer from EPFO in time. This will make you get the status of your EPF within 30 days from the date you file RTI.
How to file EPF complaint online at EPF Grievance Website?
Visit http://epfigms.gov.in/ and Click on the Register Grievance to register EPF complaints.
The fields marked as * are mandatory to fill.
In Enter EPF Details you have to
- In Select Status select one of PF member, EPS Pensioner, Employer, Others
- In Select Others, if PF Number is not known to You
- Enter your UAN number. UAN is 12 digit number.
- Enter Security Code(in image below is 43624). You have to enter the code you see.
- Click on Get Details
It will show the UAN number, mobile and Email id, as shown in the image below.
In Enter Personal Details , you will be asked to choose the PF number.
In Enter Grievance Details
- Select the Grievance category under which the complaint falls.
- Enter the Grievance description (maximum 5000 characters).
- Select the Grievance category under which the complaint falls.
- Upload the Supporting documents in pdf format (maximum size of 1 MB) to clarify the complaint. Click on Browse, select the pdf file and click on Attach.
- Enter the Captcha( the pattern in the image ex bwex in the image below) and Click on the submit button.
Once the complaint is filed, the complainant is provided with a unique registration number.These details also will be emailed to your registered email id.
EPF Complaints can be tracked online. An employee can use registration number to track the status of his/her complaint.
The EPFO verifies the complaint. After that, it is forwarded to the relevant party for resolution. It takes few days(15-30 days) to get the complaints resolved.
The reminders can be sent using the registration number.

Our Experience in filing EPF Grievance
I had filed EPF Grievance as I had rejoined the same company and my service history was not showing old service details.
My case:
I had worked in the company way back in the late 1990s much before the UAN age. In 2013, I rejoined the company and got UAN allocated and a new PF account number. I was able to transfer my old PF account related to same company successfully.
- I had registered EPF grievance on 14 Dec 14,2017 (as I was writing the article)
- After submission, I did not get the Registration Number, no email was sent to me.
- Not sure if my complaint was registered I submitted again.
- On 15 Dec 2017,(yes one day after my submission), I got the mail from epf grievance, shown in the image below. There was no ledger card associated with the email 🙁
- So I raised the grievance again.

I have been trying to withdraw money from my Pf accounts for more than 30 months now have faced a lot of problems like pan card,account no., link verification,non-available of Digital Signature Certificate on the employer,errors,server issues and glitches in the site.The problem now i’m facing that the employer named K Y T A hospitality,Establishment ID-mentioned above is non-existent and the amount from the this pf account/Membership ID- mentioned can’t be added to the transfer of funds list with the error message showing “Previous employer does not have authorized digital signatory, hence claim cannot be processed.”This is the new issue I’m facing, along with this I’m facing difficulties in the Transfer Request process in the Step 1 : Select details of previous accounts (which are to be transferred) as I’m trying to approve or attestation the transfer through an previous employer as the current employer doesn’t have the Digital Signature Certificate . This error comes when you are writing the grievance description and including brackets/special characters like -> ” “, [ ]
For example, in my case I wrote that : Here’s my pension number. (Here ‘ s, ‘ should not be there).
Just go through the content you’ve written and remove these silly errors. You would be able to update and submit the same then.

When did you start working(Before/After 1 Sep 2014) as after EPS contribution is 0
Did your earlier company make any EPS Contribution(check your passbook)

Hi,
My previous employer PF amount got erroneously transferred (online) to new employers EPS account. The new employer is having a trust to maintain the PF accounts seperately. When online request was made, the new employers EPS account number was mentioned instead of new employers PF account number. To rectify the mistake I raised a grievance regarding the cancellation/rejection of the transaction so that I can reinitiate the transfer with the correct PF account number.Not sure how much time this process takes, kindly help me if there is any other way to solve this problem

I have raised a request for transferring the PF amount from one member id ie- unexempted to exempted (Trust maintains). When I checked the claim status it showed it was settled and transferred. When checked with the employer they have said Annexure K has to be provided only then the amount will be transferred in. I checked online whether there is Annexure K provided but nothing is there. So Verify that both the dates: DOE(Date of exit) of EPF and DOE of EPS are marked.
These dates are updated by the employer.
So you can ask your ex-employer to update it.

Govt has given relaxation to the employer to deposit due to lockdown.

Same here, but my concern is that when you said that it might be because we have updated an incorrect bank details. eg: zero missing
Agreed to that, then why system is proceeding our request at the first step. Ideally if the details are wrong it should proceed ahead.

Worst grievance cell. I had never seen such grievance cell like this. It always supports PF office, if complaint raised against the concerned PF office. Same Answer received every time: Large number of request registered, sorry for the inconvenience. If large number of claims received means just ask them to resign their jobs

I do not know what kind of a bloody portal is this . couldn’t register my grievance in spite of repeated tries . I do not know what is my unique account no and was therefore trying to lodge complain selecting the “other” option . and this supposed updated , state of art portal just didn’t register the same . worthless portal . I was trying to get information on my PF amount, which were deposited fron jan – oct 2011.

I am Nisar from Pune. I resigned my organization and its more than 3 month.
After 60 days or resignation i applied for 10C and 19. its 29 days and still there is no response. Status showing UNDER PROCESS. Also raised Grevance on 7th Dec and still status showing UNDER PROCESS.

I got the annexure -k from my previous employer in the month of April, 2019. However, the amount is not credited to my current PF account yet. I raised grievance twice. Since, my issue was not resolved, I was trying to raise a grievance, but now it gives a message in a pop-up with text “no record found”. I don’t understand what’s wrong, I am using the same UAN which I used to raise earlier grievances. Also, in my previous grievance, I did attach the annexure-k from my previous employer, still they replied with below message and disposed off the case.
“You are advised to collect the copy of PF annexure K and cheque/NEFT details from your ex employer PF Trust and then forward the same to this office for verification of amount details and for accouting in your present PF a/c.”

Till now, I have worked for 2 companies and currently I am working with 3rd company. First company is unexempted and second company is exempted. I initiated an online pf amount transfer request from first company to second company. Online claim status is showing “settled”, also first company PF account statement has an entry of amount withdrawal and balance is 0. Then I contacted to second company and asked them to verify transfer amount is credited or not. The confirmed amount is not credited. Online claim was initiated on 18th august and settlement message was received on 30th august. I got confirmation from second company on 5th September regarding amount not credited. On this case I have couple of questions.
1. Till now I have not shared form 13 with second employer for attestation, but claim status is showing “Settled”. Should I send form-13 with second company?
2. I can not see Annexure-K online for this PF account transfer claim. Should I raise grievance to get Annexure-K ?
3. Usually how long it takes to get PF account transferred?

Talk to your employer. He has to approve it.
Anu, i think u must transfer ur EPF previous companies details through offline i.e, take a printout of transfer form (Form-13) fill ur details of previous and present employeer along with ur present EPF no. and also UAN no. and drop the form through Post to the concerned address. It will take atleast one month and will be transferd to the present UAN no. because without e-signature of employer online transfer is not possible.
Try it as I have followed the same and got transfered.

Hi, I have submitted 2 forms I. E. One for pf and 2nd for eps transfer. Now I got pf amount and is reflected in pf pass book also. (I have Annexure K confirming pf transfer). But what about eps amount whether that should also be reflected in pf pass book? Or should I get some service certificate? I have tried to generate grievance many times but their reply is same like your pf is settled. Now my doubt is why they are not mentioning eps in their reply? Or PF contains eps also as I should understand from their reply? Is it so? What should I get as a proof of eps or service transfer?

“Amt. Received, Credit IS Subject TO verification” in Passbook transfer entry how long does it takes to disappear. Because of this i guess the transfer is not complete and my experience is showing less than 5 years while withdrawing. If the transfer is complete then i guess the experience should be above 5 years, since this entry alone has the 3 years of my experience, altogether it will go above 5 years of service.

After transfer, your service history should be more than 5 years.

I am trying to raise a grievance for the past one month on the EPFIGMS website. I am not able to get past the screen where we need to enter details. It does nothing after I press submit, just says Please wait, and then nothing happens.
I have tried different browsers, removing all symbols other than full-stop, using only email address and not inputting phone number, typing everything manually without pasting .. to no avail.

Mention either phone number or email address, do not mentioned both of them. Otherwise you would get an error like “Fields with * is mandatory”(something like this) and also make sure you do not use any special other than the ones listed below in the Grievance description

My previous employer has shut down the company all of a sudden few years back and as a result I am not able to update my correct details in PF (change last character in last name from ‘M’ to ‘N’- my PAN, passport and aadhar will all reflect the same correct detail). My current employer has created a new UAN for me with correct details.
I have been struggling for few years now to get the name changed in old UAN so that I can link aadhar and transfer the PF money to my current UAN. But not able to contact any personnel from the company. Any name change requests requires employer approval and hence I am stuck. Appreciate any idea on how to get it done please.

I raised grievance as I was not getting any update and funds, via “ROBND/E/2018/48133”. The case is closed with comments “ Claim form-31 received and same will be processed shortly”. Till as of today by 2nd Jan I did not get any funds, and the funds are required very urgently.

In my current organisation to enroll in EPF they are asking for an Aadhar card. I was already registered here unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in (UAN) from my previous employer last year and my KYC was completed without the need for any Aadhar and the EPF amount started coming without any issues.
If last year at the time of registration, no Aadhar was needed, then why with this particular company, to enrol in EPF benefits I’m required to furnish Aadhar?
Aadhar was more mandatory last year, this year you don’t need Aadhar anywhere to avail any service.
Also despite giving my UAN number I’m yet to see my current company’s name in the Service History section of my UAN profile and as such i cannot initiate the “One Member – EPF Account” transfer request available on my UAN profile, I can only see my last employers details.
Can the transfer be easily done without the need for Aadhar or what is the standard protocol to be followed from here.

If you get the message that the claim is settled but money has not come to your account and you find bank details are incorrect. Then needs to submit the reauthorization form with the cancelled cheque of the bank to Regional EPFO office.

You need to withdraw from your last employer (Cognizant).

I have submitted my form “10 C and form 19” on 19/07/2018 through offline, but on 09/08/2018 the PF department rejected my application due to wrong DOJ. I submit again my application after making necessary changes in my records on 04/09/2018 through offline process. On 07/09/2018 i received an sms that my claim form is in under process. But till today the pf department not updated anything in their website. Its still showing that my claim is in under process. Sir its almost 1 month above. Now i m totally depressed bcoz i have no source of income. Sir please suggest me what should i do now. What is the time limit of offline pf claim.

Try to raise the complaint through EPF Grievance website as explained in the article EPF Grievance
You can also contact/visit the regional EPFO office and try to get information. Please take all the documents like Payslip, Letter from employer, Identity proof like Aadhaar etc to the Regional EPFO office.

Login to EPF account(using UAN number)
Select option “Modfy BAsic Details”
Enter Details as per aadhar number.
in this way your aadhar get linked and also your name will get changed.
But it is to be sanctioned from Your Employer .(Remind your employer)
after it takes some time from PF department for changes to be confirmed.
I had raised a grevience to receive Annexure – K form. After which I received an email on 11th September, 2018. With the below reply.

I had raised a EPF transfer claim in May,2018. It was approved by my previous employer and currently shows accepted by employer status for lats 3 months. I raised a grievance with the EPFO field office. They said they haven’t received the claim as online EPF transfers are not working and to reach out to national data centre. I worked with IBM from 2011 – 2014, my UAN was generated during this tenure. After that I shifted organisation to HCL technologies. HCL technologies maintains a PF Trust.
I worked in HCL from 2014-2017 after which I left and not working anymore.
HCL PF withdrawal is an internal process since it maintains a trust. I withdrew PF amount from HCL on march 2018.
I wanted to withdraw PF amount of IBM, and they told me it can only be transferred since UAN is same and maintained by the latest employer.
I transferred IBM EPF amount to HCL EPF which got successful via EPFO portal.
But now I want to withdraw that amount.
I have sent several emails to HCL PF team since its a internal process from HCL trust, but all response I get is my EPF account full and final settlement has been done.
How can I get my money back which I transferred from IBM ? Is it lost ? Shall I contact the EPFO ?

Once EPF settles the account the EPF site shows the message about the account being settled with the date of NEFT amount. Claim reciept is for 16 Mar 2018, Dispatch Date is 19 Mar. But the amount is credited 2-3 working days after the NEFT date mentioned in the Status on EPF site.
If you get the message that the claim is settled but money has not come to your account after 5 working days, check that the bank details are correct.Read our article When you don’t get your EPF Withdrawal money due to Incorrect bank details etc

I had claimed for PF withdrawal on 8/7/2018 and the amount was approved and I received a message saying claim was settled on 13/7/2018 and will be credited within 3 working days in bank a/c ending with ****. Track claim status on UAN portal also showed as “Claim Settled”. But I did not receive the amount. Later, when I checked KYC details in UAN portal, I saw that the account number had an added ‘0’ (zero) at the start of it and the IFSC code showing was of different branch. I got both the details rectified from my Employer and tried for withdrawal claim again on 4/8/2018. But it has been rejected saying “Claim already settled on 11/7/2018.” The correct account number is a 14-digit HDFC bank account number, and the earlier showed 15-digit with an added ‘0’ (zero) at the start. Is there a possibility that there is already a 15-digit a/c number present with the wrong IFSC code and the amount has been credited to it ? I dont feel so, as far as I know HDFC a/c numbers are 14-digit only. If not, how can I proceed ? Whom to contact ?
What if the bank account is closed/or bank details don’t match due to name mismatch or number of digits or incorrect IFSC code? Once NEFT fails then EPF amount will be credited back to the EPFO bank account within 4-6 days.
In such case does one need to reapply for the EPF withdrawal? No, one does not need to reapply for EPF Withdrawal. If you reapply your claim will get rejected
The solution is to submit the reauthorization letter to the Regional EPFO office offline with correct bank details and cancelled cheque leaf. After submitting EPF re-authorization letter, it takes 10-15 days to credit your EPF amount to the correct bank account.

Hi i tried to withdraw my pf and when I checked my portal doe is not updated by my employer even after 1 year of exit , I contacted them and given the details to update doe, even after that they updated it wrongly , so they asked me to fill the data correction form and send to them , I even did that it’s been more than a month since I sent , till now there is no response from them regarding my request , first of all mistake was made by them and now they are not responding, is there a way to file a complaint against the employer for this .
If possible try to talk to them and find the reason for the delay.
Well, last resort is to complain to EPF against your employer.
But it might piss off your employer.

I found out that my Bank account number seeded in UAN portal has one digit 0 is missing in front instead of 0598 it shows as 598, when I enquired regional PF office hyderabad they asked me send reauthorisation form to employer but my associate PF office is in tambaram,tamilnadu how shall I proceed on and how much time it will take for the amount to be credited?
1) Can I update the bank account number(add the missing 0) via KYC in UAN and raise a request?

I was applied PF loan claim on 04-05-18 vide FORM NO 19 – Non Aadhar from. I got clarification letter from EPF Coimbatore office on 11-05-18. In response to the clarification letter, I am writing this grievance. Following are the clarification raise and the reasons provided: Clarification of my Date of joining: I have worked in Sanmar Group for 6 years, starting from 21-03-2011 to 18-03-2017. During this period, I have got an internal transfer within the Sister company of Sanmar Group (From Pentair Sanmar Ltd to Xomox Sanmar Ltd). The transfer took place on 01-04-2015. Due to some inadvertent error, my joining date was mentioned in EPF as 01-04-2015 instead of 21-03-2011. Please refer to attached annexure for the above date clarifications. What if the bank account is closed/or bank details don’t match due to name mismatch or number of digits after the EPF Withdrawal?
In such case does not have to resubmit the withdrawal application again.
One can submit the PF re-authorization letter also called as the PF Advanced Receipt Form, to his/her regional EPF office
When the member has successfully submitted EPF re-authorization letter, it will take 10-15 days to credit your EPF amount to the correct bank account details.

By switching your amount from old pf account to new pf account I assume you mean transferred your old PF account.
You cannot withdraw after transferring your old pf account, then what is the purpose of transfer

Transfer of EPF means you have transferred your EPF and EPS from old organization to new one.
So now if you have to withdraw it will be from 1 organization only.
So you don’t need to submit 10C withdrawal for and you cannot get Scheme certificate as you have transferred the amount.

Yes that happens, companies prefer to have their own UAN for some reason.
You need to contact your old organization to update DOE in UAN site.
Then you can transfer old EPF to new one.

I have initiated PF transfer from my past company to the current company on March 3rd .
I can see a partial amount has been transferred to my new UAN Passbook but still certain amount is showing in my old company UAN passbook .
It’s been 2 month and still the status is same , I have raised the complain to my current UAN under section 2 (The form 13 for transfer of PF accumulations).
Could you please suggest if this is correct way to raise a complain or is there another way to resolve the issue ?

If you have transferred to an unexempted organization then check your UAN passbook. It should reflect the transfer claim as shown in the image below

I left my previous company in 2015-feb and my PF account was not online. When i submitted form-13 through my current employed and it was rejected thrice. When i raised a grievance to EPFO, chennai, i got to know that in my PF statement PF amount is not credited for some period. Hence my claim was rejected and it was also mentioned that a letter is needed from the previous employer explaining the reason.
The reason is very clear that when i was on deputation the PF will not be credited. But when i am asking for the letter from the past four months they are not responding. If you try submitting Grievance again within 30 days then grievance website will say grievance already submitted.
Can you check your View->Service history to see the Date of Joining and Date of Leaving of PF?
Check that TDS deducted shows up in your FOrm 26AS.
As TDS is deducted you now cannot get it back as the amount has been deposited to the Govt.
You can claim TDS deducted while filing ITR.

Check your claim status at epf website https://epfindia.gov.in/ Our services->employees->Track your claim status.
What does your UAN website show
Login to UAN website and check View->Service History.
Check passbook of both the accounts.

I am also facing the same problem.
PF Transfer Request (Tracking Id: 10092586320705001) initiated on 20/02/2018 is rejected stating the reason ‘EPS SERVICE DETAILS HAS ALREADY TRANSFERRED TO TN/MAS/31309/386948’. But the latest member passbook of TN/MAS/31309/386948 doesn’t contain the details of transferred amount.
Kindly let me know what can I do now. When I contacted employer they asked me to raise a grievance and I tried to register the same multiple times and not getting any reg. no or email.
Note: Initiated PF transfer for the first time (Tracking Id: 999248051703310109125) on 31-03-2017 and didn’t receive any response regarding the request.
EPS details are not reflected in the UAN passbook.
Does your passbook show EPF transferred amount?
EPS does not earn interest. They track your number of years through Service details.
Login to your UAN website and check your View->Service History.

Yeah, the same issue I am also facing. There is not complaint number generated.
When I try to register the compliant again, there was an error msg showing, the complient already registerred. Is there any way to get the compliant Number ?

You can register a grievance though you do not get grievance number.
Do you have snapshot of the error you got while raising the grievance?
i have applied for grievance they said that pf. number is wrong now i am trying again, so is it like after 30 days only i would be able to file complain….
the problem is that i received the msg that ur pf is settled and money is transferred o account ending 7256…..my accounts end with 72564 so its a mistake from there side and i have to suffer for this

I have submitted grievance on the EPFO portal however successful request submission and registration ID page was not found after that. Now I am not able to lodge any complaint before 30 days. Kindly suggest some solution. I need to withdraw my PF balance and cannot proceed due to incorrect DOB in PF database. I have requested the correction two times and also get this approved by employer, however the said correction is rejected by the Noida field office with the Remark RC-2.(THERE IS ONLY 2 DAYS DIFFERENCE IN THE DOB).Today I visited the Noida field office to know the reason behind rejection of my correction request and get to know that a few days difference in DOB correction request not required any document proof and should have been approved by field office.Now They asked me to submit the request again either online or offline that again require employer approval.
Sad situation to be in but it is good that you are getting it resolved.
Please take pictures of the requests till the issue is resolved.
Let’s follow the steps suggested. Submit the request online and request your employer to approve it.

I claimed my epf amount 3 years back and received a sms having claim id. A account number was mentioned in that sms which was not mine. I contacted sbi bank and they said the account number is of epfo. Did epfo open account without my knowledge or where is that money gone ? How I can withdraw that money ?
So you did not get the money? Hmm.
No EPFO does not open any bank account?
Raise the EPF grievance with whatever documents you have.

I have 5 years worth of my EPF savings in that account which is a good amount and I am in dire need of it, and this stupid useless system is not letting me access my OWN HARD-EARNED money. The customer “care” number either never works, and once when it was received by a bored government employee, she spoke to me as if I was asking for her life savings. It’s sad to see how institutions as these take middle-class citizens for granted who are anyway the most harassed and also the most genuine tax payers. It’s a black hole true. Once I get hold of my money (if I ever will the way it seems), I pledge to keep it as far away from EPF as possible.

Do you have proof that the request was pending? If yes please share it with twitter/socialepfo and tag us bemoneyaware
Your target is to withdraw your EPF money.
If you can you can visit the EPF Regional office and submit the request for withdrawal.
Or You can raise the change request again, taking a snapshot.
Then you raise request the EPFO to approve it fast.
You can tweet about it or raise it on the Facebook channel of EPFO.
You can also raise EPF grievance to speed up the process.

This is a complete bullshit. The form never works, it won’t let you submit your grievance. They are either too clever or too dumb to come up with such a system.
Its not just grievance portal, anything related to PF/UAN is a black hole, I tried linking my aadhar, the request was in “Pending field officer” state for a week or so, and later it disappeared without a trace. PF is like a Ponzi scheme by the govt, intent is to loot the salaried employee and let him run from pillar to post to get anything done with PF.
