Check EPF Claim Status
You can check your EPF partial or full withdrawal claim status by using the following methods. Our article Online EPF Withdrawal: How to do Full or Partial EPF Withdrawal Online explains how to do EPF withdrawal online.
- Login to UAN site with your UAN and password. Go to Online Services -> Track Claim Status You will see a window similar to shown in the image below, where it mentions the date of claim submission and status.
- By clicking on the link on EPF Website https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemClaimStatusUAN/ and entering your UAN and Captcha. Our article After EPF Withdrawal : Claim Status, How Many Days To Get PF Amount explains it in detail.
Date of EPF Withdrawal, Date of Settlement
As explained in our article After EPF Withdrawal: Claim Status, How Many Days To Get PF Amount
- When an employee applies for EPF claim online then it takes 2-15 days to get the PF amount into the bank account.
- When an employee applies for the claim in offline mode then it takes 20-30 days
Once EPF settles the account the EPF site shows the message about the account being settled with the date of payment sent through NEFT.
Time taken for EPF withdrawal depends on the Regional EPFO and varies from Regional EPFO to EPFO.
Example of the Claim settlement process:
- The online claim was made on 16 Mar 2018,
- Claim status shows Dispatch Date is 19 Mar 2018. This is because the claim was filed on Friday 16 Mar 2018 and because of Sat and Sun, the withdrawal request was approved on Monday 19 Mar.
- The amount credited in the bank account on 22 Mar 2018. Note: the amount is credited 2-3 days after the NEFT date mentioned in the Status on EPF site.

Verify your bank account details and Reauthorization Form
If the claim is settled and many days have passed please verify that bank account number is correct, IFSC code is correct. After logging on to UAN Website (https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/) you can click Manage->KYC to see your details.
What if the bank account is closed/or bank details don’t match due to name mismatch or number of digits or incorrect IFSC code? Once NEFT fails then EPF amount will be credited back to the EPFO bank account within 4-6 days.
In such case does one need to reapply for the EPF withdrawal? No, one does not need to reapply for EPF Withdrawal. If you reapply your claim will get rejected as shown in the message below.
The solution is to submit the reauthorization letter to the Regional EPFO office offline with correct bank details and cancelled cheque leaf. After submitting EPF re-authorization letter, it takes 10-15 days to credit your EPF amount to the correct bank account.
From the sample details required in reauthorization form are:
- Correct name,
- Bank address and
- Account number
- The seal and signature of the employer who attests to verify your signature in this form which is mandatory.

Raise EPF Grievance
If you have a question regarding your PF withdrawal, or transfer or updation of details, or complaint against EPF, your employer then you can use EPF grievance website to lodge a complaint. You can use online grievance only if you have UAN. On this platform, you can lodge the complaint and also track the status of the complaint. Timeline for resolution of grievance raised is 30 days.
Visit http://epfigms.gov.in/ and Click on the Register Grievance to register EPF complaints. To lodge the complaint you must have your EPF UAN number. This has been made mandatory from 1 January 2016.

- Attach any related documents in pdf format, max size 1 MB, such as Claim Status Details, PAN Card etc,
Once the complaint is filed, the complainant is provided with a unique registration number. These details also will be emailed to your registered email id.EPF Complaints can be tracked online. An employee can use the registration number to track the status of his/her complaint.
The EPFO verifies the complaint. After that, it is forwarded to the relevant party for resolution. It takes a few days(15-30 days) to get the complaints resolved.

While checking the claim form for my wife’s PF we faced a new issue with no such previous reference on various discussion forums on internet. The message shows “My UAN number is 10046377XXXX but the error message mentions the bank account linked with this account is also linked to another UAN 10012561XXXX which has different demographic detail”. Earlier we had to correct the wrong IFSC code through the UNIFIED portal with the help of current employer and since then above message is appearing.
I have only one UAN number generated in my previous employment and which has been used
in my current employment. I am not aware of any other UAN number.
Please let us know how to resolve it.
Maybe that UAN got linked with her.

I applied for 10C & 19 on 18th Nov 2019 and 0n 09th Jan it got rejected saying IFSC code is different, However in June 2019 form 31 settled with the same A/C.

Typically they ask for the name in Bank account while adding bank account to KYC.
And now EPF also asks for the cancelled cheque to be uploaded.

I too had similar problem Dec 2019. Rejection reason after good 3 weeks of waiting time- incorrect bank details. Though all the details were correct (My name, bank account, IFSC all the details are perfect in all records). 2018 also I had same details earlier too and I was able to withdraw online in a week. This time I needed urgently due to mother’s illness but its very disappointing that its been more than 2 weeks 2nd submission in Jan, no response. Now I regret having saved money all these years via VPF and no smooth process to withdraw my money.

Yes, it is ok if you can get it attested by the bank manager of the account holder bank.

When the EPFO staff process the claims, they update the claim status as per the process flow.
The Status ‘NA’ or ‘ Not Available’ is seen when the processing Staff do not update the status or in most of the cases this happens due to temporary technical issue. You may just check the Claim status after sometime/couple of days.

Hello, I filed an online PF claim, but after submitting, I noticed that the IFSC Code was incorrect in my KYC. So, I updated the KYC and got it verified, before my claim was approved. My question is, will they take the IFSC in the submitted form, or the one in my KYC?

So now do you have to bank accounts in KYC section in UAN?
It should take the latest KYC approved.
But we have not come across this case so we cannot say with confidence.
To be on safe side you can raise EPF grievance requesting them to use latest bank account details.

I am dealing handling the Exempted PF trust affairs of our organisation. Onto have two doubts to as here..
1) If an official terminates his employment as Executive Director and appointed as whole time member, whether he is eligible for Provident Fund contributions and PF membership?
2) a Whole time Member appointed by Govt. Of India relieved already on completion of his term of 3 years last year, now he wishes to transfer in his PF balance from his PF account with his earlier employer to his PF account (as WTM) with our organisation, which is not yet settled. Can the same be allowed?

1) The Executive Directors/Whole Time member who are looking after day to day activities of the company and who are directly in the payroll of the company drawing a salary like other employees per month, those Directors are the employees of the company under the definition of the PF Act. So company has to deduct PF contribution in accordance with the PF & MP Act as applicable.
Other Directors who do not receive salary / wages from the company are excluded from the PF & MP Act. Normally they receive sitting fees for attending a board meeting, reimbursement of hotel expenses for staying, commission etc as prescribed under the Companies Act. In other words, they are not the whole time Directors of the company.

Once he applies for EPF transfer his present/past employer has to approve his request.
Are you still contributing to his EPF? What is his last working day? Has his EPF Service history updated to reflect last EPF contribution?
